PGBC 2006s

At Seedhill on Sunday the 3 teams played 4 games each, they played good passing football at times taking their training into their games, well done boys. Scorers Greig Emerson 9, Darren Stevenson 3, Adam Watt 2 and Scott Clark 2.

PGBC 2005s

The 2005s had 12 boys at Notre Dame on Sunday and all 3 teams played well, bringing what they are learning at training onto the park. Kyle Spark and OJ Brisland played really well and worked hard, and the effort from Sean Reeve and Patrick Bryan should be rewarded as they played lots of great passes and moved the ball well.

PGBC 2006s Orange

The boys travelled to Erskine on Saturday morning and overcame an awful playing surface as well as a good Erskine team to secure a victory. In the 1st half most of the play was carried out in the centre of the park with very few attempts on goal but after the break with some changes being made the came out on top. A battling performance by Peter Ingram in the centre of the park lead to the only goal of the game, young Lyle McDonald finishing a great cross. This was a horrible surface but the boys made the most of it and deserved the victory.

Thanks goes to Marcus Humphrey House for their continued sponsorship.

PGBC 2006s Black

The Port boys played host to Erskine YFC at the community stadium this weekend in their first match at tier 1, a run of good results seeing the team step up to play against stronger sides at their age level. Right from the first whistle the difference was evident with Erskine having some good early possession and pressure with the Port boys a yard of the pace, the boys then had an attack of their own which was broken down and Erskine hit quickly on the counter with a nice passing move and finish meaning they went in front. Not long after the boys found themselves 2 behind after slack play at the back gifted Erskine an easy goal, the boys rallied though and as the first half went on came more and more into the game finally finding the pace of the match, some nice play and a great passing move down the right hand side saw the Port boys pull a goal back right on the stroke of half time which for work rate alone was merited. In the second half the Erskine boys came out of the traps a yard quicker than the Port boys having been playing at this level a lot longer, they were using the ball better than the boys on the day going on to score a couple more goals, full marks to the Port boys for their work rate and effort and the coaches are convinced playing against such strong opposition will stand the boys in great stead going forward. Goalscorer McPhee.

Players and coaches thank B Buick and sons (bodyshop) for continued support.

PGBC 2003s

PGBC 2001s

Port entertained Linwood Rangers at Parklea on Saturday morning. Linwood took an early lead after breaking up the park from deep inside their own half. Port pressed hard and then forced an error from the Linwood defence and forced an own goal to draw even. Jack Anderson then put Port ahead after a long ball forward from Brandon McCabe was laid off by Declan Adair. Linwood pulled level scoring from a goal mouth scramble, before breaking up a Port attack and scoring again to put them in front. On the stroke of half time Declan Adair pulled Port level with a strike from the edge of the box. In a poor second half for Port, Linwood seemed to take control scoring twice on the counter attack. Brandon McCabe's wonder strike from almost half way into the top corner proved to be nothing more than a consolation for Port.

Port are still on the look out for players to strengthen their squad for the step to 11-a-sides, anyone interested contact Ian on 07753846465.

Thanks to our sponsor INVERWELD for continued support.

PGBC 14s 2 Broomhill 3

In front of a large crowd on Thursday night the derby kicked off, the Port boys gave their all against the league winners but it turned out not to be enough, they held their own for most of the game with 2 goals from Connor Duffy. However a late goal for Broomhill ensured they secured the victory on this occasion. Refs motm Connor Duffy

PGBC 14s 3 Alba Thistle 1

With 4 boys missing there were changes to be made from Thursday nights team but they went on to show a good performance. Goals from Thomas Liesk, Captain Ciaran Murray and Paul Payne ensured the spoils. Although they went one nil down very early on the fought back and played some great football at times, a special mention to Connor Hair, stand in centre half who’s assist gave Big Paul his goal. A strong impressive display from Connor Duffy gave him motm again.

PGBC 16s 3 Mojams 4

Scorers : Chris Grierson, Ayden Sharp, Kyle McKay

Port continued with their Christmas theme of teams a couple of goals start before deciding we need to start scoring at the other end. Port travelled to Paisley with the bear essentials of 11 fit players, and to their credit with the team been shuffled and players asked to play in positions strange to them battled away and should have not lost this game as they dominated this game by a country mile. First half they had been comfortable with their opponents and the wind until the last 10mins when decided to let their opponents open their Christmas presents. Half time with a kick up the back side didn't work as they gave away the third with soft defending from the right hand side allowing it to go up. this was the wake up call and they bombarded the other team for the rest of the game. chances galore fell with that final connection the lacking factor. performance wise, it was a great effort but lessons to be learned " stop giving your opponents gifts". training as normal as Tuesday, the team wish Big Paul a speedy recovery.

All parents are asked to contact Alex with reference to presentation night tickets on Tuesday at Parklea or by phone.
