Dunipace Juniors
Cowie Colts
Under 15's FVFDA League
This was a must win game for both teams, with the winner cementing their place at the top of the league. This game is always fiercely contested; with both these teams treating it as it was a derby game; and with a lot of the boys being friends with opposing players bragging rights were at stake.

The heavy park was handled better by Cowie, who started the game stronger and were rewarded when Craig M hit a wonderful 30 yard strike to leave the keeper no chance. This settled Cowie who got into their game and it was no surprise when Cowie increased their lead when Craig doubled his tally, when he raced onto a through ball, then steer it passed the keeper. The game looked to be going Cowie’s way when the old saying of “goals change games” came true again. Cowie failed to clear their lines, the ball was gathered by a Dunipace forward who hit the ball from thirty yards; Mark Mc seemed to have it covered but the ball took a wicked bounce and flew over the diving keeper’s head. This prompted Dunipace who took control of the game up to the halfway stage.

Half Time: Dunipace Juniors 1-2 Cowie Colts
After the break Cowie made a couple of changes which helped to make the game more competitive, the fresh legs made a difference. With Jamie off Craig C and it was him that fired Cowie two up again with a strong shot across the keeper. The game was more like a cup game going one way then the next. Cowie seemed to be cruising towards the end; when a Dunipace midfielder shrugged off two tackles and hit a thirty yard rocket which left Mark Mc with no chance; Mark actually got himself under the shot but it was so spectacular he couldn’t get near it. The last few minutes were a nervy time for the away team, who were glad of the final whistle, as this was the coldest game of the season and both teams should have medals for their efforts today.

This win was due to the fact that for the first time in years Cowie had a squad strong enough that when subs were made the players coming on were as strong as the players on the park. It was a great game for Cowie who moved to third in the league table.
