Bonnyton Thistle 2001s & 2002s meet Cammy Bell and shoot at Rugby ParkBonnyton Thistle had a week to remember last week as five of their 2001 team and another five of their 2002 team got to meet Kilmarnock icon and Scotland cap Cammy Bell before taking to the field at Rugby Park participate in the half-time 10 second shoot-out challenge. The week was instigated by a link between the Sunday Mail's centenary (2014) and Bonnyton Thistle's own centenary (2012). The two will join to organise a football festival in the summer of 2013 as a means of raising money for charity.

The kids got to meet and have their photo taken with Cammy Bell and the League Cup that Kilmarnock won last season on Thursday, thanks to the help of Kilmarnock Community coaches Paul McDonald and Alan Mahood.

The boys had great fun meeting him and here is a link to an interview with three of the lucky lads:

The boys were given free tickets to the Kilmarnock v Motherwell game the following Saturday and rewarded with the opportunity of taking part in the half-time 10 second challenge. The kids had to run from the half-way line and score past the keeper beofre the clock counted down from ten. The boys managed to score six of the shots so well done! It was a great experience and here is the video of how they faired:

The week was one to remember for the players and now Bonnyton Thisle will look to continue their partnership and organise what should be a fantastic festival this summer with fundraising and football personalities the theme.

Money will be split between seventeen different charities in a worthwhile endeavour.
