acciesdrumConnor Reid scored a fantastic hat-trick to help Accies cement a place in the Scottish Cup semi finals after a 4-1 win against Drumsagard. Dylan Henry also got on the scoresheet for Accies, with Martin Scanlan finding the net for the visitors.

Both sides looked ready for the match to try and progress into the next round of the cup. The teams had only met in a friendly before. The game was their first competitive match against each other.

Drumsagard started the opening 5 minutes the stronger team. Reece Coyle hitting a free-kick that went inches over the bar.

Accies then got a break of the ball and Dylan Henry exploited the open space in the middle of the park and fired a shot at goal which was well blocked and headed out for an Accies corner. From the resulting corner Sam Murdoch leaped high into the air and got a firm header onto the ball which rattled the crossbar and Drumsagard survived.

Accies were becoming more involved now as they looked to turn the tide.

One minute on, Drumsagard's Andrew Reilly broke free to send Blane McDade through, he then rounded the keeper with a heavy touch and crossed the ball towards the back post. A team-mate was inches away from connecting and firing it home.

Accies then attacked again down the left flank with Henry, using his pace to beat the Drumsagard defence and cut it back but the shot was cleared off the line.

Just before the interval, Accies had a chance to go ahead. Lewis Campbell passed the ball with the outside of his foot to Connor Reid who fired a shot that was lashed off the post.

Half Time: Hamilton Accies BC 0-0 Drumsagard FA

The second half began and both sides were looking to break the deadlock straight away.

A Joseph McDaid corner was met by the head of Henry which was cleared off the line brilliantly by a Drumsagard defender on the post, saving his side from going behind.

Drumsagard responded and won a corner kick. The ball was delivered and Accies failed to clear the ball and it landed at the feet of Scanlan who volleyed the ball into the bottom left corner to give Drumsagard the lead.

Drumsagard nearly extended their lead when Jamie McBrearty's free-kick struck the wall, and luckily for Accies went past the post for a corner.

Henry was again causing problems for the Drumsagard defence and the bombardment took its toll when he played the ball out to Robbie Torrance down the right. He in turn cut it back into the box for Connor Reid to strike it into the net and equalise for Accies.

Four minutes later Accies took the lead for the first time in the match. A McDaid corner was met by the head of Reid and it flew like a bullet into the top right corner.

The match was all Accies now.

Accies shortly after their second goal added to their account. Great link up play again from Henry to Torrance who sprinted down the line to cross to the back post for Reid to be waiting to finish and claim his third of match.

Drumsagard couldn't respond and Accies wrapped up the match 3 minutes before the end. Connor Reid this time was the provider as he ran from the left and passed the ball across the box to Henry, who couldn't miss. Accies were now 4-1 up.

Referee Matthew Denne soon blew his whistle for the match to end. Accies were jubilant where as the Drumsagard's attentions turn to local and regional competitions.
