Blantyre Soccer Academy and The Haven Centre have announced a partnership for the coming years that parallels the famous FC Barcelona in Catalonia and UNICEF, the United Nations children's charity.

The partnership with The Haven Centre, which assists those with life limiting illnesses such as cancer, and which is situated in the heart of Blantyre, means that some Blantyre Soccer Academy teams will turn out for matches with the logo of The Haven Centre emblazoned on their football shirts.

The two organisations are clearly delighted with the emergence of this partnership and, according to Blantyre Soccer Academy Chairman, Joe McGuire there is an expectation that such a link-up between the groups will raise awareness of the valuable work undertaken by The Haven. Joe commented, "Blantyre Soccer Academy, as well as providing a platform for young people to engage in sport and fitness, are fully aware of the importance of such fantastic community resources as The Haven. If we can assist in raising the profile of such a wonderful organisation as The Haven then we will be delighted'.

Connie Postlethwaite of The Haven Centre also commented “I was delighted to meet the girls of the Academy at Hamilton Palace on Friday evening and it was great to see them all wearing their sponsored Haven football shirts. We are grateful to Blantyre Soccer Academy for sponsoring The Haven logo on the girls shirts which helps us to raise awareness of the support that the centre provides to those families coping with the impact of long term illness”
