13's South East League
On a cold and blustery morning, Linlithgow Rose Blacks hoped to build from their win on their last outing. The conditions certainly weren't great (not least for the soggy match report book!) but from the word go the Blacks were on the attack and in the first minute Emma McL saw her shot well saved by the keeper. Cozza took the resultant corner and put in a powerful cross which was blocked by the Haddington defence.

Their clearance didn't go far however and was collected by Jacqueline on the edge of the box, Jacqueline found her sister in a crowed penalty box and Emma got her shot away first time finding the back of the net, 1-0 with just 3 minutes on the clock. The Rose were clearly in the mood.

From the restart, Haddington tried to move up the pitch but Fiona made sure there was no way past and after winning the ball, stroked it inside for Emma McL. Emma rounded her opponent and fed the ball out wide to Cozza. Cozza drove up the pitch then crossed the ball to Emma R, Emma R's quick feet saw her go past the on rushing defender and Emma then slid the ball through to Laura in the middle of the box but she was unlucky to see her shot blocked.

Haddington were back in possession and putting some nice passes together but Fiona was standing strong and nothing was getting past her on the right side.

After winning the ball Fiona made a great pass down the wing to Cozza and set her off on a run down the right. Cozza cut inside and tried a shot but it was blocked and cannoned off the defender for a corner. Cozza whipped the ball in from the corner and it was met by Emma McL who smashed it past the keeper, 2-0 with 6 mins gone.

The Blacks were closing Haddington down all over the pitch and giving them no time to make passes. Laura was quick to pressure the forward player and the rushed pass fell to Cozza who was off up the pitch with the ball at her feet. The Haddington defender was out of the box and closing her down. Haddington came away with the ball and cleared it up the pitch.

It was met in the air by Jacqueline who pulled it down and headed up the pitch. Jacqueline was putting pressure on the Haddington defence but her shot was blocked. The long ball from Haddington got them high into Linlithgow's half but Fiona was again equal to it and with some quick feet took the ball from the attacker and her pass found Emma R. Emma tried to make progress but her pass inside was cut out by the outstretched foot of the Haddington player and that sent Haddington back on the attack.

Haddington's movement into the box was great but Fiona and Jacqueline were combining well to keep them at bay. Haddington's pressure led to a corner and with the ball played in across the six yard line – a goal line stramash followed and ended up with a Haddington striker slipping it past the scrambling Phoebe: 2-1 with 10 minutes gone.

The Black's were on the attack right from the re-start. Emma McL took the ball up the pitch and having rounded two players, fired it past the keeper for her hat-trick on 11mins, 3-1. Haddington kicked off and quickly fed their winger with a great pass but yet again Fiona made sure there was no way past and a strong tackle had the blacks back in possession. Fiona's perfectly weighted pass found Cozza who pulled two defenders with her on her run to the byline. Cozza crossed in and found Emma McL at the edge of the box but her shot was well held by the keeper.

Haddington made good progress from the goal kick and were soon bearing down on Phoebe's goal but Phoebe got save hands behind the shot and pushed it round the post for a Haddington corner. The corner was played out to the edge of the box but Emma McL was first to the ball and was off on a run. With a lovely solo effort Emma McL made it 4-1 on 14 mins. Haddington weren't about to give up and from the re-start were back in attack. Jacqueline was quick to close them down and the attacker then snatched at her shot and was an easy take for Phoebe.

Phoebe played a quick ball out and found Emma McL in the middle of the park. Emma didn't hang about and was quickly bearing down on goal but her shot was well held by the Haddington keeper. Haddington tried to get the ball up the pitch but it was cut out by Emma R and out for a Haddington throw.

Jacqueline was onto the ball from the throw and advanced up the pitch. She dragged the ball out wide and then skipped past 2 players and slotted the ball into the bottom corner at a tight angle, 5-1 on 16 minutes and the Blacks were flying.

Haddington were still trying to get back in the game and came close to pulling one back but Jacqueline was not for giving way and got a pass away to Emma R. Emma showed great strength in powering up the pitch, twice getting away from her marker and her great play deserved a goal but the Haddington Keeper kept the scores the same with a good save. With the substitutions made the Black's showed no sign of stopping.

Cozza had moved to the centre of midfield and was flanked by Megan and Cara with Hannah taking the place of the formidable Fiona at the back. The Black's increased their lead with a superb move, Jacqueline won the ball deep in her own half and passed to Cara, Cara showed some lovely pace and quick feet to move past two opponents and then dragged the ball on to her left side at the edge of the box with the defenders tracking her run it left Cozza unmarked and Cara calmly fed her the ball. The Keeper was quick off her line but Cozza touched it to the right taking it away from the keeper leaving her stranded and Cozza coolly swept it into the empty net 6-1 with 10 minutes to go in the first half.

The Blacks were firmly in control but looked to increase their lead. Megan was next to threaten the Haddington goal after receiving a lovely pass from Hannah and after setting one up, Cara was determined to get amongst the goals, this time fed by Jacqueline but the defenders timely intervention blocked the shot. The next couple of minutes saw some cracking work by the blacks with Hannah and Jacqueline solid at the back and both covering each other when Haddington tried to get forward.

Megan, Cozza and Emma R were working hard and some slick passing saw them all getting into good positions and taking shots. Phoebe was called into action again just before the break but made no mistake in holding onto the ball from a powerful strike. With ball in her hand Phoebe sent Jacqueline on a run and Jacqueline found Cozza in the centre of the park. Cozza took a neat touch and moved the ball out wide. Cara had matched her run and was calling for it in the box. Cozza pass found her and Cara got the goal she deserved just on the stroke of half time, 7-1 at the break.

Half time: LRCFC Blacks 7-1 Haddington

With Phoebe having to rush off Cozza took up her position between the sticks for the 2nd half. The Blacks started the game with the same persistence they finished the first but Haddington had the first shot, a well worked move that was unlucky not to find the net but the ball was moving in the air and rose above the bar. Cara continued to press up the wing and showed some delightful footwork to make progress.

Cara found Emma McL with a lovely pass inside and with the defenders closing her down Emma couldn't get the shot away but made her way to the byline but her shot hit the side netting. Megan was working hard on the opposite wing and some strong play saw the Black's on the edge of the opposition box once more. Megan found Emma McL who turned neatly and hit the bottom corner on 37minutes, 8-1.

Haddington started their next attack but a strong tackle by Hannah brought it to an end, however Haddington were awarded a free kick. Haddington put a cracking ball in but it was met by an equally cracking defensive header by Cara who put the ball out for a corner.

The corner was knocked out by Hannah who played it to Emma McL and she went on a run up the pitch. Laura had taken up a brilliant position in the box and was ready for the pass but the Haddington defender was on the move and cut out the pass. The next goal saw the Rose increase their lead with a beautiful move between Cara and Emma McL. Cara picked up the pass from Hannah and did a neat 1 -2 with Emma in the centre of the pitch. They then carried on up the pitch knocking it back and forth to one another with some lovely one touch football.

The last pass from Cara creating space for Emma to turn and shoot and Emma made no mistake for her 6th goal of the game, 9-1 on 41 minutes. Haddington never gave up and were unlucky to see 4 consecutive shots blocked by the Blacks defence. Linlithgow weren't finished yet however and Emma rounded off her performance with another 2 goals in quick succession taking the score to 11-1 on 48 minutes. Haddington kept trying but this time Cozza was equal to them and made a couple of saves, one of which I'm not sure she knew much about but they all count!! The blacks carried on in attack and Cara was so unlucky not to increase her tally.

The Haddington keeper was quick of her line to block at Cara's feet. From the corner, it came out wide and Megan cracked a shot from the edge of the box but it was blocked. Cara was first to the loose ball and yet again the keeper denied her at close range. The keeper also stopped Emma R from notching up another Rose goal as she quickly closed her down and knocked the ball clear. Fiona, who had been a rock in defence earlier in the game was now in the centre of midfield and was unlucky not to find the net with a good strike that was cut out by the defender.

The Blacks had continued to press and Cara's hard work on the wing nearly paid off again but the shot was knocked out for another corner. Megan put in a great cross but Haddington were first to it and knocked it clear. Hannah was defending high up the pitch though and collected the ball and passed it out to Cara who skipped past two opponents before picking out Laura with a great cross.

Laura hit the ball well but there was no way past the keeper. Haddington were quick to move the ball upfield and won a free kick 25 yards out. The free kick was well saved by Cozza. With the rain now falling heavily the Blacks continued their attacking play and yet again Cara was unlucky not to increase the score. By the final whistle, the Blacks were delighted to record another win with a brilliant team performance. Everyone played their part and with confidence riding high the girls look forward to the last two games of the season. All credit to Haddington though who never gave up and kept trying right to the final whistle.
