After a disappointing 1-1 draw away to Dunfermline at the weekend, severely denting their title hopes Hearts played host to Real Farmington in this midweek game. The visitors left Forfar at 4.00pm to be in time for their prematch preperations and arrived in good time.

A last minute goal in their last match gave Farmington a draw in the 4-4 result and the Maroons where looking for all three points this time and that is what they got.

Hearts played this game without 6 first team regulars, due to injury, illness and a school trip to Manchester United Champions League game for three of their Girls. The players who came in from normally being on the bench took their chance, none more than Danielle Forsyth who scored the Jambos first and crossed for Nicole Rutherford to finish superbly volleying home from 6 yards.

Farmington were to play a big part in this game, and were by no means overrun until the final 15 mins of the game. They worked hard throughout and if Jeni Currie in the Hearts goal had not been at her outstanding best with superb handling and two fantastic stops when 1 on 1 with the Farmington strikers it could have been a different story.

Half Time: Hearts Girls 2-0 Real Farmington

Farmington started the second half better and put the Hearts defence under pressure and worked tirelessly to get back in to the game. But the Jambos stood strong, none more than Lauren Kerr, another who has been in and out the team this term, stepped in tonight and was having her best game in a Hearts jersey before cramp in both legs finished her game with 15 mins to go.

Hearts started to control the game in the last 20 mins and 4 quality finishes from Nadean Henderson, and a sublime effort from the hard working Leah Boak made sure the home team ran out convincing winners in the end.

The final score was really not a true reflection of a game in which the Farmington Girls never gave up, passed the ball well and were always dangerous on the break but Hearts showed their class by taking 90% of their opportunities and keeping their slim league chances still alive.
