No goals, but an outstanding performance from Troon taking a well-deserved point against title chasing Girdle Toll.
Whoever said there was no such thing as a good nil-nil draw should have been at Hosiery Park as Troon and Girdle Toll take a point apiece in a cracker.
It was Troon who came out of the blocks right from the start, creating the first chance after just 60 seconds. A Fraser Paterson pass sent Conan McGhee running in on goal, and when he was tackled at the edge of the box, the ball broke to James McIntosh whose his shot was well held by the Girdle Toll keeper.
Troon kept up the pressure and three minutes later, Scott Nelson was unlucky to have his shot from the edge of the box blocked following a Craig Garden corner.
It took Girdle Toll until the 12th minute to have their first attempt at goal, but the shot from distance flew well over the bar.
James McIntosh had a speculative shot saved as Troon continued to press for the opener, and it took a magnificent one handed save from the Girdle Toll keeper to prevent a Craig Garden free kick giving the home side a deserved lead after 18 minutes.
Four minutes later, another long range effort from Girdle Toll cleared the crossbar, before Troon keeper Shane McWee - who'd had little to do for the first half hour - touched away a dangerous cross from the right and then raced out to clear from a Girdle Toll breakaway.

Struan Tremble replaced Gavin Suttie in the Troon midfield at half time, and two minutes after the restart, it took a great Fraser Paterson tackle to prevent Girdle Toll getting a shot on goal.
Troon keeper Shane McWee then had to be on his toes when a cross from the left took a deflection off Craig Young and the keeper did well to save.
From his clearance, Troon broke forward and a Conan McGhee pass gave Craig Garden a half chance from the edge of the box but his shot was just off target.
Girdle Toll's next attack ended with a shot into the side net, and Shane McWee again did well to keep out another deflected effort.
Midway through the half, the home side had to make a change with Scott Brown replacing the injured Conan McGhee, but the Troon defence and midfield continued to work hard to keep Girdle Toll at bay, and try to create some chances of their own.
Ten minutes from time, a Girdle Toll corner caused some panic in the Troon defence before Scott Nelson cleared off the line, and with the final whistle approaching, Troon skipper Craig Young brilliantly blocked a pile-driver from outside the box that look goal-ward bound.
So no goals, but an outstanding, hard-working performance from everyone in a Troon shirt in what was a cracking game. Troon will feel they did enough to win, but the result puts a dent in Girdle Toll's chances of taking the league title.
