West Park United took on Rossvale Rovers in a local derby at Bishopbriggs Academy in the Under 17's B League.
The early stages of the match saw the teams evenly poised with Rovers' Lewis Stewart coming closest as his free kick from 30 yards was saved. West Park were next to come close when Thomas Seaver dragged a one-on-one opportunity just wide of the goalkeeper's far post. However, the ball was played back into Seaver straight after by captain Lewis McKay and Seaver pounced on the opportunity from the edge of the six yard box to put West Park 1-0 up.
West Park continued to look strong after the opener and on the 23rd minute they would double their lead. A free kick in from Lewis McKay was met by Zak Cameron who hit the post, but the ball fell straight to Calum Smith who fired the rebound high into the net. It appeared that the floodgates were now open as it only took United two minutes before they scored again, with Jamie McKendry slotting home from close range after the ball was played in from a corner.
Things could have looked a lot worse at half time for Rovers however goalkeeper Aidan Mulholland put in a few important saves to ensure that the team went in at half time still with a three goal deficit.
