10 man Bellshill snatched a late equaliser to steal all three points from Milton Rovers

It was a cold morning at St Ambrose as both teams went into the game on the back of 3-1 victories and looking to build on these results to continue moving up the table.

The game started off quickly as Milton winger Robert McAlonan went on a mazy run and played it to Ben Cochrane, who fired just wide.

They were only made to wait to the third minute for their goal however, after some great team play saw Connor McIntyre put it across to Nathan Fleming who had the simplest of tap ins to make it 1-0 Rovers.

Five minutes later however, Bellshill were on level terms. Milton were caught out trying to play out from the back, Ben Fisher intercepting a loose ball playing it to Cameron Burlington who made no mistake with the finish to level the game.

The game became a scrappy affair that was mainly played in midfield, Rovers trying to play some nice football with not much coming of it. Bellshill were also trying to get the ball on the floor but similarly to Milton, struggled to do anything in the final third. That was until the thirty third minute when Fisher again got behind the Milton high line and slotted it home to cap off an impressive first half for the midfielder

After the restart it was Milton who had the first big chance, an outstanding attempt from Connal Naughton from all of thirty five yards from the left hand side.

It was a powerful effort which struck the upright and back into the box, only to be cleared by the sturdy Bellshill defence. Not much football was being played, with the game turning into a cold ugly scrap.

It wasn't until the sixty third minute when it brightened up again. McIntyre got through one on one and smashed the ball into the top corner to again level the game. It went from bad to worse for Bellshill when Ryan Hipson was dismissed for a second booking.

It then proceeded to get worse a few minutes later, when McAlonan got the ball over the line after it being put across goal via the post to seemingly make it a step too far for Bellshill. However, in dramatic fashion, Josh Cooke’s free kick found Lewis Carrie whose shot was well saved by Daniel Nelson.  Ajay McGraw came in at the back post to put in the rebound to steal a point for Bellshill

It was a fair result in the end as both teams battled hard for the win and eventually cancelled each other out. Milton Rovers however will be wondering if they could have took all three points if it weren’t for the teamwork and togetherness of the Bellshill squad.

Connor McIntyre’s goal and Milton Rovers second was a turning point in the game as it brought Milton back into the game at a point where it looked like they were fading out of it.
