Strathaven Dynamos U17s strolled to a 6-0 victory over Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers in this LFDA B League fixture. A hat-trick from Calum Hymas and goals from Jack Donald, Connor Anderson and Stewart Scott sent the home side on their way to an easy win.

The opening exchanges of the match were closely fought and Kyle Johnson had a good early chance for Strathaven, but could only find the side netting.

Gerald Kane nearly latched onto a short back pass from Gregor Mitchell but Ross Dyet was well off his line to prevent the striker capitalising on the error, before Lewis McDonald had two shots fly wide of the target.

Jack Donald’s pace was troubling the Wishaw defence early on, and he forced two good saves from keeper James Quinn.

Strathaven took the lead in the 16th minute after a high free kick found Mitchell in the box. Where it seemed harder to miss, he sent his shot backwards but David Cameron was on hand to lay off Hymas, who’s delightful shot nestled in the top corner of the net.

Strathaven kicked on from their goal and doubled their advantage soon after through Donald, who scored at the second attempt after seeing his initial shot parried by Quinn.

The second goal seemed to open the game up, and Kane spurned several good chances for Wishaw in quick succession before Connor Anderson struck the crossbar with a curling effort from the edge of the box.

McDonald sent another shot past the post, but Mitchell and Danny Crawshaw defended resolutely and seen that Strathaven went into half-time two goals to the good.

Both teams were as evenly matched at the beginning of the second half as they were at the start of the first, with Johnson and Jake Glancy going close with long range efforts for each side.

Donald went through on goal twice in quick succession for Strathaven, but Quinn was on hand to save both efforts. Kane and Mark Rankin’s few half chances came to no avail after some no-nonsense defending from Mitchell.

Robbie Gardiner glanced a header wide of the post for Wishaw, and was made to pay when Strathaven extended their lead just moments later.

An Anderson corner found Hymas, who buried a superb header into the corner of the net. Just moments later, Stewart Scott grabbed a fourth after some stunning link-up play between Anderson and Johnson, sliding a neat finish underneath Quinn.

Forbes Crawley was getting more involved in the game, and he started the move that resulted in his side’s fifth goal. He found Johnson, who’s through ball allowed Anderson to finish through the legs of the keeper and score the goal his performance merited.

Hymas completed his hat-trick with ten minutes remaining after being played through on goal, while Johnson continued to dazzle the opposition with his quick footwork.

Jack White and Sean Muldoon continued to battle away for Wishaw and fashioned a few chances for a consolation goal, but none fully tested Dyet in the home goal.

Late substitute Ethan Charlton was lucky to avoid a booking after a rash two-footed challenge in a game which had seen Mitchell, Crawley and Gardiner harshly booked for descent. Cameron missed two good chances to further Strathaven’s lead, but it had no impact on the result and 6-0 was the final score.

Connor Anderson- stunning performance in the middle of the park. Dictated the game with a series of through balls and fully deserved his goal at the end of the contest.
James Quinn- kept the score down in the away side's goal, producing a number of good saves. Nothing he could have done for any of the goals.
Magic Moment

Link up for fourth goal- Anderson and Johnson tore the Wishaw defence apart with a series of one-twos and flicks in the build-up for Scott's goal.
Kane's skill- in a tough game for the striker, he produced a stunning piece of trickery to flick the ball over Mitchell using his heel.
