Today saw the fixtures announced for the 2015/16 season in the West and East region SPFL Development League.
Firstly, looking at the East section, where nine teams will battle it out for the trophy across 18 match days. Champions Forfar Athletic will be the free team on the opening match day, but will begin the defence of their title at home to last season's bottom side, Stenhousemuir, on the 7th of September. Last year's fourth placed team, Stirling Albion, will welcome East Stirlingshire on the opening day.
The champions last match of the calendar year will be an away tie to the ‘The Shire’, with the return tie played on the 14th of March.
Last season's two top scorers, Forfar and Alloa, meet at Station Park on the 28th of September. The Mini Wasps will then be hosts in the return fixture on the 22nd of February. Both matches promise to be fill-thrilled and full of goals.
The champions will then finish their campaign away to Raith Rovers on the 21st of March, with the Kirkcaldy outfit hoping to push on from their fifth place finish from last season.
Moving on to the Western Section, occupied by eight teams this season. The previous campaign's winners, Airdieonians, welcome last season's second-bottom placed team, Clyde, to North Lanarkshire on the 31st of August where they will hope to repeat their feats again.
Queen of the South, who narrowly missed out on first place by a single point, kick off their journey with an away tie to Morton. The teams who finished in the fourth and fifth places, Ayr United and Queen's Park, will meet at Hampden on the opening day also, with the return meeting on the 2nd of November.
Last season's top two, Airdrieonians and Queen of the South, meet each other in Dumfries on the 28th of September, and play again at the home of the champions on the 23rd of November.
Airdieonians will hope to retain their title on the final day of the season at home to Morton, who will undoubtedly hope to kick on from last season's third place finish.
