Dalziel BC romped to the Lanarkshire FDA under-14 B League after going unbeaten and drawing just twice. They finished 19 points above their nearest rivals and scored an astonishing amount of goals on the way to their triumph.
They also reached the semi-final of the League Cup but were defeated by League A team Larkhall United.
"Our team efforts have been phenomenal this season. For a team to be only in their second season together and win the league undefeated is brilliant. Our boys have shown great enthusiasm and passion this year and also the confidence to beat other teams which has been key to their success. We also got to the semi-final of the league cup but were beaten 4-2 by a good Larkhall side," coach Billy McAulay told Youth Football Scotland.
Dalziel BC racked up a number of convincing victories, and started the season in style. That form, as well as a winning attitude throughout the team, carried on through until June when their league triumph was confirmed.
"Basically from the start of the season our boys won comfortably and were in control of most of their games so there was no games we felt were decisive in our victory. We won every game apart from two draws against Claremont who were a strong physical team but we manage to beat them 3-1 in the League Cup," McAulay said.
"The coaches and players have learnt that with the correct attitude and players playing to their full potential we can produce some excellent football played in the correct manner.
"To be honest, the whole team has been excellent. There have been individuals who stick out on different occasions but the team work well as a unit."
As for next season, it will be a step-up to the A League for Dalziel BC, but that won't stop them from aiming for more silverware.
"We hope from our achievements and performances from this season we can build on that to take into next season and win some more silverware. We're also look to bring in a few additional players to enhance our current squad," McAulay said.
Congratulations to Dalziel BC, 2014-15 Lanarkshire FDA under-14 B League champions!
