Riverside come from behind to see of West Fife Phoenix

Written by  Riverside Athletic

Fixture: West Fife Phoenix Fury v Riverside Athletic
Competition: U14's FVFDA League Cup
Date: 28/03/15
Athletic started brightly and had most of the early pressure but went behind halfway through the half as poor defending allowed Phoenix to cut through the right side and fire past Alex who up until then had hardly touched the ball.
To their credit the boys had pulled level within 2 mins thanks to a great defence splitting ball from Jordan through to Kobe who remained cool to slot into the corner.
Half Time : West Fife Phoenix Fury 1-1 Riverside Athletic
The second half started well when 5 mins in Garry powered down the left to cut in and hit a great shot past the Phoenix keeper to go 2-1 up.
Garry and Kobe continued to cause the home defence problems and both were involved in a goal mouth stramash with Kobe getting the final touch to poke the ball into the net.
Totally cruising now, Riverside made a few substitutions were made but Phoenix pulled one back when it clearly looked like their winger was well off side.
This led to a nervy last 10 minutes but the away side held firm marshalled well in defence by Callum P with some good clearances by Ryan M, Aarron S and Luke allowing Athletic a very well deserved victory in blustery conditions.
Good to get back to winning ways with all boys performing well in difficult conditIons and putting us right back in contention within the group.
Good performances from Aaron A, Garry, Danny and Kobe up front and strong defending in midfield and at the back where Callum P earned a well deserved Man of the Match for clearing up everything that came near him.
