Fixture: EK Burgh v Lenzie YC
Competition: U16's LFDA League Cup Round 2
In this Under 16's Lanarkshire Football Development League 2nd round cup-tie between EK Burgh and Lenzie the home side started stronger. Burgh had the majority of opportunities in the opening minutes of the half but nothing came of them.
As the half progressed Lenzie became more and more attacking, creating more chances, with each one looking more and more promising.
The most promising chance was when a chipped through ball from Liam O’Connor was controlled by John Craney who tried to wrap his foot round the ball but the Burgh keeper dived to his left to pull off an astonishing save keeping the score 0-0.
With two minutes of the first half left to go the Burgh number eleven Nathan Khanna maneuvered his way through the Lenzie defence and placed the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

The second half started where the first left off, Lenzie were still creating numerous chances but were still unable to take them. This changed however when Lenzie began to push more and more for an equaliser.
They began to get more shots, but the combination of the Burgh defensive line and goalkeeper kept them at bay. Burgh’s second goal came in the 25th minute of the second half when Michael Anderson hit a thunderous shot from the edge of the Lenzie box that curled into the top right of the Lenzie goal.
The game continued to flow back and forward but there was no further scoring in this excellent match. EK Burgh move through to the next round.
