Wishaw WW unbeaten run comes to an end against Blantyre

Written by  Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers

Fixture: Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers v Blantyre Yellow
Competition: Under 16's Lanarkshrie FDA "A" League
Date: 01/03/15
On another Sunday morning with atrocious weather conditions Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers lost their 100% unbeaten League record to Blantyre. Maybe the supersticous amongst us would realise this was out thirteenth League game but to their credit it was visitors who in the end took their chances and the points.
Wishaw played against the wind in the first period and created a number of decent opportunities which were not taken. Blantyre with the wind also created a number of decent opportunities but Sheridan in goal done well to prevent any goals on a couple of occassions.
Half Time : Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers 0-0 Blantyre Yellow
The homem side started well in the second period with the wind at their backs but again could not get that all important opener. As happens when chances are not taken, Blantyre took the lead midway through the half with a neat finish after a decent move down the right.
Wishaw battled back in somewhat blizzard conditions and Houston was unlucky when he headed over from close range after a Torrance corner. The ball at this point was mainly in the Blantyre half with the boys pushing for a equaliser, but just not getting that wee break.
With ten minutes left Wishaw WW failed to clear a corner and was prodded home to double the visitors advantage.
Wishaw WW kept going and Lunny was unlucky when his well controlled effort flew just wide.
Blantyre grabbed a third late on to seal the victory.
