The young Helensburgh team returned with from a trip to their neighbours Dunoon with a terrific result in a game played in the most atrocious conditions.
It was the home side that took the lead when the referee decided the Dunoon player was impeded in the box and despite getting a hand to the ball keeper Gemmell was unable to stop them taking the lead from the penalty spot.
The Helensburgh lads didn't drop their heads and battled back into the game with the home keeper producing two good saves from Cox and Gordon.
However the pressure paid off when Brabender was upended in the penalty box and Shaun Kimmit didn't miss his spot kick.

Dunoon started really strong in the second half and boosted by a strong wind dominated the first 25 mins however The Helensburgh back held firm with Gemmell in goals providing the final barrier to the home side.
Slowly their pressure eased and it was the visitors who started to creep back into the game. Gorman came close with a raking 25 yd drive that the keeper done well to push for a corner from which McFarlane should have done better with a header.
Five minutes later Gorman once again tried his luck from distance and this time it paid off as the keeper allowed the ball to slip through his hands. More chances followed but Gordon and Kimmit failed to take them however they held out to record a good away win
Both teams deserve enormous credit for competing for ninety minutes in conditions that included sleet and rain driven in on a strong wind.
