Fixture: Moorlands Reds v Syngenta
Competition: Under 17's Central Region Cup, Quarter final
Moorlands reached a fourth consecutive regional semi-final with an excellent performance at Hamilton Palace.
Home full-back Jonnie Walker set the tone in the opening minute when he forced Syngenta 'keeper Kyle Fullerton into conceding a corner. From the resulting delivery, debutant Mark Skelton rose to head home and give Moorlands the lead.
With both teams endeavouring to play their usual passing game, there was plenty of good football on display.
On the twenty minute mark, the Uddingston team doubled their lead.
Good work from Sean Monaghan set up Dean Robertson and the front man kept his cool to send the ball into the corner of the net.
The next goal was always going to prove important and it was Syngenta who notched it, with a decisive header from a corner.
Half Time : Moorlands Reds 2-1 Syngenta
The second half began with Syngenta probing for an equaliser but they got little change out of a stuffy Moorlands defence.
With just over an hour gone, another key moment arrived.
Moorlands' Calvin Cowie surged forward and found Monaghan inside the Syngenta box.
With a deft touch, the front man set up the advancing Skelton who smacked a glorious shot past Fullerton for his second goal of the game.
Although Syngenta kept plugging away, Moorlands looked in no mood to let the tie slip and they held on to book a semi-final meeting with fellow South Lanarkshire side Mill United Colts.
