Ross County made it two home games unbeaten in a row following a good performance at home to in-form Hamilton. Both teams will feel their performances warranted the three points but they will have to settle for a point a piece.
The first real attack in this tight affair saw the opening goal at the Global Energy Stadium. Ian McShane spotted the forward run of Tony Dingwall down the right, Dingwall cut in onto his favoured left foot and unleashed an unstoppable low drive into the bottom corner. A truly spectacular shot which put the hosts up inside the first ten minutes.
Just moments later Dingwall found room on the right again but this time his long range shot was expertly tipped over by the outstretched hand of Alan Martin. Ross County came close again just minutes later when new Dutch signing Alex Schalk found room on the edge of the area but his low shot drifted wide.
Hamilton were having their fair share of possession but were struggling to find that cutting edge in the final third. However quick reaction from Alex D'Acol saw him unleash a low drive but it stung the palms of new loan signing James Severn before bouncing away from danger.
Then excellent link up play from the young Accies saw Ryan Tierney tee up Stephen Boyd but his point blank shot was saved excellently by Severn in goals. Hamilton's quick slick passing was now causing the Ross County defence all sorts of problems. Next up to test the home defence was Ryan Tierney, a flowing move down the wing saw the young winger cut inside but his curling effort was easily held by Severn.
Just moments later, Ross County produced flowing move of their own playing the ball out from the back before finding McShane in room 20 yards from goal. However his low drive was easily held.
Dingwall then dazzled the Accies defence beating three players in the corner before cutting it back to the unmarked McShane but his shot was parried away, Holden then crossed it back in but the ever present Greg Morrisons header was easily gathered.
Darian Mackinnon really should have put Hamilton ahead moments before half time. A fast break from a County corner saw MacKinnon free in the box, however he shot straight at Severn as he pushed it away for a corner.
